HAVE TO HURRY

Deadline For House

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Oct. 18.

Parliament would have to make more progress if it was to rise on Friday, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said tonight. He had been asked if he still thought the House would rise as planned on Friday. “I am an optimist—you have to be in this job. But we would need to go at a somewhat faster pace than what we have been doing lately.” Mr Holyoake, asked if he was contemplating longer sittings, said: “I haven’t thought about that.” He would consult with the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nordmeyer), if necessary. Mr Holyoake said Friday was not the absolute deadline for the end of the session.
