CHARTERED ELECTRAS
Christmas Use By N.A.C. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct 17. N.A.C. will introduce its first chartered Electra service on Thursday, December 23. using Air New Zealand crews and operating initially between Auckland and Wellington. Arrangements for the charter, which is expected to continue for several months, have been completed. The arrangement will benefit both—N.A.C. in handling an expected record summer holiday traffic, and Air New Zeaand in “positioning” economically a Wellington-Austra-lia Electra service. The cost of the charter has not been disclosed. The charter has been made possible as the result of three of Air New Zealand's DCB jets being in service after the Auckland International Airport opens on November 24. The N.A.C. Electra flights will leave Auckland daily, except Sunday, taking off at 8 a.m., and arriving at Wellington at 9.15 a.m.
The Wellington-Auckland Electra service will be daily, except Saturday, leaving at 8.10 p.m., and arriving at 9.20 p.m.
The Electra flight times will be about 15 minutes faster than N.A.C. Viscounts.
