HEARING IN PRIVATE
Submissions On Hydatids (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 17. Submissions called for by the Hydatids Inquiry Committee two months ago will be heard in private. The chairman (Mr A. L. Friis, of Tauranga) said that persons who had made submissions would speak more freely at a private hearing. A public hearing would mean lengthy cross-examina-tions and other legal procedures.
The committee was set up by the Minister of Agriculture to review progress in hydatids eradication.
Two months, ago it called for submissions from farmers, local bodies, Federated Farmers, and individuals. More than 50 submissions had been received on the closing date yesterday. The committee is expected to analyse them before the end of January, using recommendations by the National Hydatids Council as a basis.
