Magicians’ Charity Concert
Magicians throughout the world will celebrate the anniversary of the death of the “Great Houdini” on October 31 by providing free entertainment for orphans and handicapped children. The Canterbury Society of Magicians, founded 26 years ago, has kept this tradition each year. Until eight years ago, parties of magicians visited orphanages and homes for handicapped children, but in 1959 it was decided that better entertainment could be provided for more children if the concert were held in a hall. The Civic Theatre has been used ever since.
Each year special invitations are extended to institutions and societies, and there! are usually more than 1000 in the audience. |
