Outclassed Rivals
Prince d’Amour took top ranking amongst the two-year-olds with a briililiant win in the £2090 Weliiesley Stakes at Trentham oh Saturday. Mr N. Beder’s chestnut scurried away from the others in the last two furlongs and won by four lengths and a half from Full Dook, which beat Nuihau by a head. Prince d’Amour was ridden by R. W. Taylor, who will travel to Melbourne this week to ride Empyreus in weight-forage races at the Moonee Valley and V.R.C. spring meetings. The Wellesiley Stakes ended the winning run of the southern filly, Red Sash. Hopes for a third successive win for Red Sash faded when she went down short in her preliminary She was unable to give of one of her best gal'lops in the race, and finished eighth.
