Mr D. M. Grover, AssistantCommissioner of Works (administration) since 1962 and a senior officer for more than 28 years, has retired after 43 years’ service. He was born in Christchurch, joined the Ministry of Works in 1922, and was a cadet in the Christchurch office, going to the head office in Wellington in 1925. Mr Grover has held a number of senior departmental positions, including that of secretary of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council. In recent years he has been a member of the National Roads Board. Mr P. C. Burdett, the British Trade Commissioner in the South Island, will visit Blenheim, Nelson, and Picton this week.
