CATHEDRAL LIGHTING
First Stage Completed
Improvements to the interior lighting in the Christchurch Cathedral were being financed by the Friends of the Christchurch Cathedral Association. and the first stage of work had been completed at the cost of over £l7B. Tnis was reported at tne association's annual meeting. The additional lighting in the sanctuary, choir and nave light the beams and ceiling emphasising the size and height of the buil-img auu improving the appearance of the interior.
The second stage will be the lighting of t'm crossing and choir screen. This work hie been temporarily deferred as wiring would have to be i«.io under the floor tiles. This v ould be done in conjunction with wiring requ.red for a < ew loudspeaker which the chapter wilt have installed in the near 'uture. For the second successive year membership had declined for although 16 ordinary members and seven life members had been enrolled. 18 members had died and there were seven resignations. Membership was now 448. compared with 455 in 1964. Officers elected were: President, the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K, Warren); vice-presidents: Mesdames Norton Francis and F J. Reynolds, the Ven. H. G. Morris, the Ven. H. M. Cocks, the Rev. Canon W. A. Orange. Dr. L. C. L. Averill, Messrs C. H. Clemens, and L. H. Wilson; committee: the Very Rev. W. A. Pyatt (chairman). Mesdames E. A. Guillermo. G. B McCredie, M. Macfarlane, C C. Oldham. A. K. Warren, and G. T. Weston, Misses M. Pairman, R. Reynolds, and R. M. Stewart, Dr. D. E. Hansen. Captain G. H. Dennistoun. and Mr P. B. H. Simpson: secre-tary-treasurer, Mr G. S. Hamilton; auditor, Mr J. G. Strack.
