Zebra Not A Migrant

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 11. A young male zebra, born at Auckland zoo on Sunday night, can claim to be the first “100 per cent New Zealand” zebra. His brother, Dasher, was born in Auckland zoo to the same mother, Dot, two years ago—but Dasher was sired in England. The new arrival, yet to be named, is only the second zebra to be bred in captivity in New Zealand. Dasher was the first. His parents, Dot and Shiner, both came from Chester Zoo, England. The zoo director, Mr D. Wood, said today that both mother and son were doing well.

Shop Burgled.— The Zenith Seed Company’s shop in Bell’s arcade; Cashel street, was burgled on Saturday and £9 stolen. The shop was inadvertently left open.
