More Women Bowlers
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, September 14. A membership of 20,059, an increase of 483, was recorded in the annual report of the New Zealand Women’s Bowling Association at the annual conference, which opened in Oamaru today. A five-star badge was introduced for players winning five or more titles in Dominion events. First recipients who will receive their badges at the next Dominion tournament are Mrs s. Winstanley (Marewa. East Coast) and Mrs M. Nicol, formerly of the same club but now of Waikato. Officers elected were: Patron es<s, Lady Fergusson; president. Mrs D. Dippie (Bay Of Plenty): vice-president, Mrs E. Richard son (South Canterbury): immediate past president. Mrs J. D. Scott (Alexandra); secretary. Mrs M. Shaw (Bay Of Plenty); executive, Mesdames M. Hobbs (Auckland). E. Christenson (Wanganui), W. Reid (Buller). M, Jenkins (Marlborough).
Spear Fishing.— Australia was third in the international Pacific Cup spear fishing contest at Noumea. The contest was won by Tahiti and France was second.
Basketball Tour.—New Caledonia beat Whangarei, 53-36. in a men’s indoor basketball match at Whangarei. The game was fast and open but marred by excessive fouls.
