DOMINICAN SETTLEMENT
More U.S. Aid Possible
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, Sept. 2. President Johnson expressed his pleasure yesterday with the agreements ending the four months of strife and violence in the Dominican Republic. He said the Dominican people still faced grave problems but that “the way has been opened for an end to strife and for the choice of leaders through the process which all free men cherish.” Administration sources in Washington were confident’ that a provisional Government, expected to be installed on Friday with Dr. Hector Garcia-Godoy as the provisional President, would pave the way for a new United States aid programme for the republic.
