FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cold front over central New Zealand is moving north-east, while an anti-cyclone over the Tasman Sea is moving towards the South Island. Forecast: Canterbury.—Fresh southerlies decreasing, and winds variable late in the day; remaining rain areas clearing and weather becoming mainly fine, but rather cold. Outlook: mainly fine. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds; fine with moderate temperatures. Outlook: fine. Nelson.—Easterlies, fresh in exposed places, but decreasing; some scattered rain at first, but becoming fine; rather cool. Outlook: fine. Marlborough.—South to south-east winds; strong in exposed places, but decreasing slowly; occasional rain clearing slowly during the day; rather cold. Outlook: fine.
