RESTAURANT MOTELS

Construction At Manapouri (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Sept. 3. A £50,000 restaurant and motel scheme is planned for Manapouri. Construction has started on a £12,000 restaurant on the Lake Front road, and motels are to be added, probably when the restaurant is completed at Christmas. A former Auckland schoolteacher and accountant, Mr Paul Souter, and an Englishman, Mr Dale Johnson, are launching the scheme. Mr Souter says the restaurant and 30-bed motels would be ready for occupation by the end of next year. Additions would be made as tourist traffic to the Manapouri area increased.
