Greek King And Council Meet

(N.Z. PA -Reuter—Copyright) ATHENS, September 2. King Constantine prepared to meet again today with a Royal council of advisers amid the political unrest and economic harm caused by Greece’s seven-week-old Government crisis.

Today's session of the council—made up of former Premiers and political party leaders—was expected to

hear the outgoing Premier, Mr George Tsirimokos speak for dissidents within the Centre Union Party. The party holds 134 seats in the 300-seat Parliament.

Yesterday the former Premier, Mr George Papandreou, leader of the Centre Union, said he told the council the only way out of the crisis was appointment of a caretaker Cabinet to conduct General Elections within 45 days. Great Anxiety The King told the council he had great anxiety for the serious dangers threatening the Greek economy, the international position of the country and developments in the Cyprus issue as well as the domestic situation. Some 2000 university students demonstrated during the session calling for elections and shouting antiRoyalist slogans. Mr Papandreou, aged 77. whose resignation on July 15 began the crisis, previously has demanded that either the King reappoint him or call elections. Mr Papandreou resigned in a dispute with the 25-year-old Monarch over the former Premier’s desire to take over the defence portfolio and purge Right-wing Army officers.
