VACANCIES—PROFESSIONAL LEGAL POSTS IN HONG KONG The following vacancies exist for members of the Legal Profession:— <a) CROWN COUNSEL in the Legal Department: Qualifications: Age preferably 15 40 years Barrister-at-Law w-ith not less than 3 years’ pro fessional experience since call: OR Solicitor with not less than 2 years’ professional experience since admission. Male and unmarried female candidates acceptable. Duties: Prosecution, civil litigation. advisory work and legislative drafting May be required to act in other legal or judicial posts. (b) LEGAL ASSISTANTS in the Reerstrar-General’s Department Qualifications: Age preferably 25-35 years. Solicitor with two years' professional experience since admission. Male and unmarried female candidates acceptable. Duties: Conveyancing and legal work connected with bankruptcies. companies liquidations. trusts and the registration of companies, trade marks, patents, marriages and births and deaths. Salary Scale: NZ£l575-NZ£2B65 per annum for men and NZH267NZ£2B65 per annum for women Entry point according to qualifications and experience Temporary allowance of 5 per cent of salary plus 2 per cent for each child under 18 years (limited to 3 children). (Overseas candidates will be granted two overseas increments and) Education Allowance of NZ£lBO. and NZ£25O respectively for the first, second and third ch:!d between 11 and 18 years undergoing full-time boarding school education in officer’s' country of origin. Appointment may be on contract for 3 years (renewable) OR to the permanent and pensionable establishment on probation in the first instance. Contract gratuities are payable at the end of each contract period, at the following rates which are in the form of percentages of gross salary received over the respective contract period including earned leave:— First tour 15 per cent Second tour 17J per cent Third and subsequent tours 20 per cent Free passages, Accommodation at low rental. Free medical and dental attention but charges made for appliances. Low income tax. Home leave on full pay at end of tour at the rate of’either 56 or 78 days per year of resident service according to age. Working week normally 5} days: from Monday to Friday, normal hours of work from 9 a m. to 5 p.m. with one hour for lunch and from 9 a m. to 1 p.m on Saturday.
