VISAS FOR VIET CONG
U.K. Refusal Expected (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, August 25. The British Government is expected to refuse visas to three members of the South Vietnamese National Liberation Front to visit Britain, a well-informed source said in London yesterday. The front is the political arm of the Viet Cong guerrillas. Applications for the visas were made by the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation nearly three weeks ago. The applications were for Mr Dinh Ba Thi, Mr Pham Van Chuong, and Professor Nguyen Van Hieu, Foreign Affairs spokesman for the front.
Diplomatic observers said it was not British Government practice to give visas to persons who may come and make political propaganda against Britain and her allies. They recalled that the South Vietnam Government, through its Ambassador to London, Mr Vu Van Mau, had already told the British Government that it would be against the issue of any visas to members of the front.
