SAFER TO EAT
French Food Regulations (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, August 20. French chickens and cows will not fatten so quickly from now on, but they will be safer to eat. The Government has tightened up regulations forbidding the use of “chemical and biological substances which could present a danger to public health.” In particular, implants of artificial hormones, inserted directly into the body of the animal, will no longer be allowed under the new rules. Medical experts have found no evidence to support speculation that these hormones can bring about sex changes I in the human consumer, but ■ the health service authorities have decided to be on the safe I side.
