TEENAGE BRIDES
Increase In Britain (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, August 11. The number of teen-age brides in England and Wales is steadily increasing. More than 96,000 girls were under 20 when they married in 1963—about 3000 more than in 1962. In 1963 also there were 20,208 weddings in which both the bride and her husband were under 20. This is about 9 per cent higher than the previous year and three times as many as 10 years before. Total number of marriages in 1963 was 351,329—3500 more than in 1962. There were 37.000 petitions for divorce during the year —an increase of 2500.
