RECEIVING WIRE

Metal Dealer Fined £lOO (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 10. A 71-year-old scrap metal dealer. Henry Gibb, was today fined £lOO by Mr Justice Woodhouse in the Supreme Court for receiving stolen copper wire, the property of the Waitemata ElectricPower Board. “You certainly ought to go to prison,” said His Honour. “But it would not be right at the end of your life to send you there.” He gave Gibb four months in which to pay the fine, directing that if there was any grave hardship the case was to be brought before him again. In default of payment, Gibb would have to serve six months’ gaol.
