STUDY OF AIRPORT

Group From Auckland Members of the Auckland International Airport Committee will come to Christchurch on October 1 to study all operations of the Christchurch International Airport. They will arrive on the first DCB jet aircraft of Air New Zealand, which will come to Christchurch for courtesy flights and its first scheduled flight to Australia.

Cr. A. R. Guthrey, chairman of the Christchurch City Council’s airport committee, said the invitation was suggested to him by Auckland interests, and was promptly accepted when issued. The Auckland members wished to examine Christchurch experience in airport administration, facilities for airlines, concessions for shops, restaurant, rental car. and other amenities, the spacerental structure, car-parking schemes, freight handling, and other matters which would be of interest at Mangere. Cr. Guthrey said he would welcome the visitors and describe the City Council’s part. ,and the airport manager (Mr A. 1. R Jamieson) would explain airport operations. The guests would dine in the Christchurch Airport’s licensed restaurant and fly back to Auckland later in the afternoon by N.A.C.
