ARCHAEOLOGICAL WORK
Association Sees Lack Of Support Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 6. New Zealand tends to lag behind almost every European and many African and Asian countries in effective Government support of professionally qualified archaeological officers, according to delegates at the annual meeting of the Archaeological Association in Wellington. Delegates claim that too much reliance has been placed on the voluntary work of the association’s members and university and museum-spon-sored working parties. They complain that there is little enthusiasm, and even less support from major city councils in New Zealand for archaeological work.
