AKAROA TO HELP MISSION

Mr G. Hart, a missionary 7 in Tanzania, would receive special help from the residents of Akaroa, it was decided at a recent meeting in Akaroa of the Mission to Lepers (N.Z.). Mr Hart works a farm attached to the Hombolo leprosarium in Tanzania, and it is to this that aid will be given. The farm covers 200 acres, and its cultivation is extremely difficult as there are many pest problems. Not only weevils, but also pigs, monkeys and tick-carrying Masai cattle invade the land. The help from Akaroa will be centred round solving this problem. Fencing is needed desperately, and to be really effective it will need to be electric. The farm provides produce for sale as well as for domestic use, and is also invaluable for the rehabilitation of patients.
