MILITARY SERVICE
Dates Drawn In Ballot (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 3. The birthday ballot for national service training was drawn today. The youths affected are those becoming 20 between Ma>-ch 1 and June 30. The call-up dates are:— March 6,7, 8, 10, 13, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 28, 29. April 5,9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 26. May 4,5, 7,8, 9, 12, 15, 17, 18, 19, 22, 25, 26, 27. June 2,4, 5,7, 8,9, 12, 14, 19, 21, 25, 28. It is expected that between 2200 and 2400 youths will receive registration papers. Approximately 30 per cent will be rejected on medical grounds, leaving a total of about 1500.
Fifty marbles each representing a date were drawn.
