No Difficulty Seen In Cheque Facilities

WELLINGTON, August 2.
The provision of cheque facilities, in the opinion of the Post Office Association, was something that could well be introduced to the Post Office Savings Bank, said the association’s national president (Mr F. Conway- ; King) today.
;. Introducing the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) at the ppening of the association’s annual conference, Mr Con-way-King asked him to pass on to the Minister of Finance (Mr Lake) the association's willingness to show how such e scheme could best be implemented. “We were most surprised When Mr Lake would not agree to the Post Office having cheque facilities,” he said.
“We have not heard any evidence from our members that |we cannot take this on.” ! Mr Conway-King added that I during the Second World War j the Post Office had many addiction responsibilities, including fuel and food rationing. ! ‘‘And we did a good job there jin very difficult circumj stances.”
