Dr. J. F. Gabites will succeed Dr. R. G. Simmers as director of the Meteorological Service on October 15.—(P.A.) The president of the New Zealand Associated Chambers of Commerce (Mr G. E. Stock) will be the guest of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce on August 24, when he will address a meeting open to all members. Mr H. C. Holden has been appointed senior trade commissioner and commercial counsellor in London. He is at present director of trade relations and economics with the Department of Industries and Commerce.—(P.A.)
