New Monte Carlo Limit (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) MONTE CARLO, July 25. Important changes for the 1966 Monte Carlo rally—the world’s premier auto rallyhave been announced by the organisers. Entries will be accepted only for cars of which at least 5000 have been produced. and the course of the event will be changed. . The ears will start as usual from capitals all over Europe, but their routes will run all the way to Monte Carlo before linking up, instead of linking at Chambery in the French Alps as in the previous years. The day after they arrive, they will undergo stringent inspection before setting out on an 888-mile circuit through the alps and passing through Chambery, and returning to Monte Carlo. The 60 best-placed cars will then run a final test, a night circuit of 372 miles over roughly the same final circuit in the Alpes Maritimes as was used last year.
