NASSER WARNS SAUDI ARABIA
GV.Z. Prest Association—Copyright) CAIRO, July 23. Egypt could clash with Saudi Arabia if peace talks on the Yemen were to fail. President Nasser told a cheering crowd of 500,000 Arabs in Cairo last night.
He also said that war with Israel was inevitable—but Egypt would choose the time for it. Earlier, reports had filtered out of Cairo of a foiled plot to bomb the President's villa. Two newspapers in Beirut reported the bombing, saying it was a prelude to a military coup d’etat to stoo the country’s drift to the East. One newspaper, "Le Jour," said the plotters planned to form a provisional government under President Nasser’s one-time partner. Mohammed Naguib, now under house arrest. The paper said 55 persons, including high officials, had been arrested since the plot was discovered on July 16. President Nasser addressed the holiday crowd on the eve of the thirteenth anniversary of the revolution that brought him to power. He said it was most regrettable that Egypt should be fighting against Saudi Arabia, that Arab soldiers should kill
other Arab soldiers Referring to relations with Britain, President Nasser said they were hoping the Labour Government’s policy would be different from that of the Conservatives, but they proved to be the same. He added: "The British accuse us of killing people in South Arabia. We tell them they are killing people in the Persian Gulf. NORMAL RELATIONS “We tell Britain they will not be able to eradicate Arabism from the Arab gulf." In his two-hour speech he thanked the Soviet Union for
’sending us wheat they need themselves.” He referred to the U.A.R. s friendly relations with China and normal relations with France. Speaking of the United States, President Nasser said that country stopped all aid to Egypt and Egypt had been doing without American aid.
