'Bent-Pin Charter’
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, July 19. A special charter for the bent-pin kids—protecting their right to fish for tiddlers—is being insisted upon by a town council as a condition of letting a park lake to an angling club, says the Sunday newspaper the “People.” The club, attached to a Farnborough factory, says it will be glad to have the kids there.
Until now the council at Aidershot has been charging Is a day for fishing licences; but there were never any adult anglers on the banks. When the club offered to rent the lake the council “rose to the bait.” Councillors, no doubt remembering their boyhood, asked what about the boys. As a result the bent-pin charter was drawn up.
