39 Burglary Charges

(N.Z. Pres, Association) WELLINGTON, July 14. Thirty-nine charges of burglary of business premises in 'Wellington and Lower Hutt, including a Wellington bank, were laid against Michael Knox, aged 19, a workman, in the Magistrate’s Court today. Knox was also charged with being in possession of burglary instruments. He pleaded guilty to all charges and was remanded in custody for a week for reports and sentence. Detective Sergeant D. Winter said the 19 Wellington offences involved £167 Ils 6d in cash stolen, and £76 worth of damage. Regarding the breaking and entering of a branch in Wellington of the Bank of New Zealand, he said Knox entered through an insecure window. He stole nothing but admitted taking a quick look round for any loose money. He did £25 worth of damage to a door to get through to the roof. Detective Sergeant Winter

said the 20 Lower Hutt offences involved £397 Is 9|d and £96 17s 9d worth of damage.
