WORLD FINAL PLOUGHING
Organisation For 1967
Organisations affiliated with the New Zealand Ploughing Association are to be invited to supply the names of three members to act on an organising committee with the executive of the association in making arrangements for the World final, to be held betwen Lincoln and Prebbleton in May. 1967.
This was decided at a meeting of the Canterbury Ploughing Match Association and Young Farmers’ Clubs in Ashburton last evening. Members of the executive of the New Zealand Ploughing Association were also present. The organising committee will have power to add to its number.
The president of the New Zealand association, Mr G. L. A. Donald, told the meeting ‘hat it was planned to appoint a co-ordinator to help with the organisation of the World natch, and to set up an office in Christchurch. He said there would also have tb be liaison between the office and the ground. He expressed pleasure at the local interest being shown in the World match by the presence of so many at the meeting.
The secretary of the New Zealand Ploughing Association (Mr R. A. Triggs) said the secretary of the World Ploughing organisation (Mr A. Hall) had said there was 18 months’ work involved in preparing for a world match
The New Zealand final, to select the New Zealand ploughman to compete in the World final in Rhodesia in 1968 may also be held in conjunction with the World match in Canterbury.
