Minor Fires
Bedding was slightly damaged when it was set on fire by an electric blanket at 22 Devon street, the property of Mrs Phyllis Bedford, about 5 a.m. on Monday. The fire was put out by firemen from the Central and Sydenham stations.
A chimney fire at 4 Brynley street, the property of Elgar Longdin. was put out without damage by Sockburn firemen, who were called at 9.20 a.m. A kerosene heater and a wall were slightly damaged when the heater caught fire shortly after 11 a.m. at 292 Fitzgerald avenue, the property of Joseph Nathan. Two units from the Central Fire Station attended. A chimney fire at 16 Leyden street, the property of Nora Phillips, was put out by Woolston firemen, called at 5.19 p.m. There was no dam- : age. Ji !
