Soccer Club Risks Fine
For falling to paint the goalposts—as requested for the last four or five weeks—the Shirley B.H.S. Old Boys Soccer Club will be fined £1 a week until the job Is done. The Canterbury Football Association's management committee decided on this actlqn last evening after another report that the posts had not been painted. The committee felt that some action should be taken or the posts would never be attended to. It was also decided to give the Wanderers club a week to paint the posts at Somerfleld park before it. too. Is fined. “Under A Handicap” •'They're really working under a handicap,” said Mr R. J. palmer, when a letter from Haas! School was received saying soccer was being played with basketballs and Rugby posts. The headmaster (Mr C. H Pickard) said the sport had recently been Introduced to his school —and received with en thustasm—and he would be grateful for anything the C.F.A. could do.
The committee decided to investigate how it could help the school.
Representative matches be tween the Canterbury and Nelson senior and under is teams will be played in Christchurch on August 14.
