Wendy Moreland, aged two, and her sister, Vicky, aged four months, daughters of Mr and Mrs A. Moreland. Tai Tapu, have come forward by proxy to challenge the claim of the Rakaia children who have eight living grandparents.

The Moreland girls have nine—one great-great-grand-mother, four great-grand-parents and four grandparents.

The great-great-grand-mother is 88-year-old Mrs J. Woods, of Christchurch. The great-grandparents are her daughter. Mrs Rose Hamilton, of Springston South; Mrs S. Bennett, of Uncoin: and Mr and Mrs A. Moreland, of Lincoln.

The grandparents on the girls’ father’s aide are Mr and Mrs Jack Moreland, of Christchurch, and on the maternal aide, Mr and Mrs L. Thomas, of Springston.
