BASTILLE SECOND

Improvement Likely

Bastille failed to keep his winning record intact at Washdyke on Saturday, but there was merit in his run for second behind Donnaway in the Beaconsfield Improvers’ Handicap. Bastille’s preparation for this, the second race of his career, was interrupted because of a 'foot injury, which also cost him a start at the Dunedin winter meeting. Bastille is a member of A. E. Didham’s Wingatui team for the Wellington winter meeting, and if he makes the expected improvement should do well against the hacks at Trentham. Bastille is a son of Faux Tirage and the brilliant Excellency, and is a brother of Ma Reine, a good winner from the Didham stable.
