Steel Industry
Sir, —For probably much longer than eight years’ at least one large chain store has been selling a handle and nest of five saws for 6s 6d. Along the street one may buy a nine-inch file, for sharpening them, for 4s 3d. If our present legislators carry out their threat of installing an iron and steel industry in New Zealand we will be fortunate under import restrictions if we are able to purchase the same outfit for under £2, with a corresponding price value for all other locally-made steel goods.— Yours, etc., J. A. ROLLINSON. July 3, 1965.
