FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone covering New Zealand is moving eastwards; a north-westerly airstream over the south Tasman Sea is advancing on to the west of the South Island. Forecast:

Canterbury, Marlborough and Nelson.—Light to moderate winds, north to north-westerly directions predominating; weather fine with moderate day temperatures. Outlook: cloud increasing with occasional rain developing in Nelson and about the Sounds, and spreading to other areas later. Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate variable winds; rather cloudy skies with scattered drizzle areas, chiefly in the south; moderate temperatures. Outlook: overcast with rain.
