Three Injured In Collision
Three persons were injured, •ne of them seriously, when a car and a truck collided in Wairakei road, near Galway avenue, at 9.15 p.m. on Saturday.
Michael Nolan, of 140 Oram avenue, the driver of the car, suffered serioua head injuries. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital where he was on the seriously ill list late last evening. He was still unconscious and his condition was reported to be fair. Trevor Starr, of 349 Bower avenue, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, suffering from head injuries, and James Malcolm McMillan, of 225 Armagh street, was treated for abrasions. The car was extensively damaged and the driver’s side door had to be torn back so
Mr Nolan could be removed. Serious Injuries.—When a bicycle and a car collided at the corner of Selwyn street and Moorhouse avenue about 8 20 p.m. on Saturday. Raymond McCann, of 18 Cobham street suffered serious head »nd leg injuries. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. His condition was reported last evening as fairly satisfactory Head Injuries.—Geoffrey Slee, of 61 Wilton crescent, Papanui. suffered lacerations to the head when two cars collided in Harewood road on Saturday. he was struck by a powercycle at the corner of Marine parade and Hawke street about 3 p.m. on Saturday. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Admitted to Hospital.—Arm and leg injuries were suffered by Richard Edward Andrew Brickie, of Rolleston House. 5 Worcester street, when two motor-cycles collided at the corner of Cambridge terrace and Victoria street about 7 p.m. yesterday. He was admitted to Burwood Hospital. Fell Off Motor-cycle.— Stuart Cameron Grant, of 27 Tensing plaee, suffered shock when he fell off a motorcycle on the road between Governor’s Bay and Lyttelton yesterday afternoon. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Car In River.—A man escaped with bruises, lacerations and a soaking when the car he was driving west along Linwood avenue went into the Avon river at the intersection of Avonside drive about 2.16 a.m. on Saturday. He is Anthony Tonihi, of 51 Golf Links road, Shirley. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital. The car crashed through the wooden railings on the bank and came to rest on its side in the water.
Broken Leg.—T. C. Wong, of 509 Avonhead road, suffered a broken leg when playing Rugby on the university sports ground in Waimairi road yesterday afternoon. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital.
