Mail Advertising

Sir, —At least Varian J. Wilson gets his detergent samples and his free coupons. They do not find their way into our letter-box, although our postal zone number is 3, and our mail is delivered by car. It would be interesting to know just where they do go.—Yours, etc., NOT HERE. June 3. 1965.

[The Chief Postmaster (Mr J. W. Lincoln) replies: “The detergent samples delivered recently were not handled by the Post Office but were delivered privately to gate letter-boxes. Concerning the householder circulars containing free coupons, a full distribution was arranged for delivery by the contractor postman in Zone 3, and any specific complaint would be investigated immediately. Perhaps your correspondent would let me have further particulars.”]
