Rugby Head To Retire
(.V.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 4. Mr T. H. Pearce will relinquish his posts as president of the Auckland and New Zealand Rugby Unions next year, and with them his position on the New Zealand Rugby council. Mr Pearce, well known for his witty and often fiery speeches, was elected to the Auckland union in 1946, and has been a delegate to the New Zealand union since 1947. He became a member of tl.e Rugby council 10 years ago. and in 1960 managed the All Blacks in South Africa.
Mr Pearce said today: “For the first time since 1945 I’ll be without an administrative Rugby position—but that won’t diminish my interest in the game in any way.”
