SAIGON CRISIS CONTINUES
(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter —Copyright) SAIGON, June 4. South Vietnam’s civilian leaders met again today to discuss the political crisis which follows their five-hour debate with military chiefs yesterday.
Dr. Phan Huy Quat, the Prime Minister, and his Cabinet went to the Presidential palace for the meeting with Mr Phan Khac Suu, the Chief of State. Dr. Quat and Mr Sout are involved in a dispute over Cabinet appointments. It has turned into a fullscale political crisis with Roman Catholic leaders and other anti-Quat elements calling for the resignation of the Government. Meanwhile, Catholic suburbs in Saigon and villages near the capital were festooned with banners demanding the removal of the Quat Government. Some Catholic youths were reported to have stopped buses passing through Catho-
lie areas to scrawl anti-Quat legends on them. Late last night Mr Suu issued a communique appealing for calm. He asked the population to leave it to the Government and the National Legislative Council to find a satisfactory solution.
