Doctors And Publicity
Sir, —What lies behind this suppressive move in the medical profession? At first sight, the restrictions on doctors’ public expression of opinion looks totalitarian and dangerous. If we are only to hear one-sided and “vetted” statements on medical matters, how is truth to find its way out? Is an organisation among us, dealing with so vital a matter, permitted to act with disregard for one of democracy’s first principles?—Yours, etc. ALARMED. June 4, 1965.
