Big Takanini Team Arrives At Awapuni
"The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. The Takanini trainer, G. Cameron, has arrived at Awapuni with Action Packed, Paromac. Firenze, Blue Holly, Fair Linda, Arlanda and Equality. He will stay until after the Hawke’s Bay meeting.
Paromac, which is in the Century Hurdles at Wanganui, jumped four brush fences in company with Erldon. which ran most of them down. Paromac’s run left a little room for improvement, but he was strange to the fences and should do better on the day. He has not yet schooled over anything but standard hurdles. He ran well on the flat at Rotorua and looks dose to his best. Flockhart is one of Paromac's rivals and yesterday schooled in his usual fine style over two brush fences with Repair. Flockhart won the Century Hurdles last year and is ready for another bold bid. Tilly Light the likely favourite for the event after his second in the Waikato ■
Hurdles, ran a mile yesterday on the inside trial. He took Imin 53sec, the last six furlongs in Imin 25sec. He is likely to be at short odds this week. Firenze, which will race on the second day, galloped impressively with Blue Holly over five furlongs in Imin ssec, the last three in 39 2-5 sec. Blue Holly will resume in the Borough Hack Handicap this week. Plantation and Shanty Town, which will race next at Awapuni, did well to cover half a mile in 51sec. the last three furlongs in 37 2-ssec. Regal Blue and Captain Bennie schooled over a round of country and except for a mistake by Regal Blue at the third they jumped well throughout. On the course proper Bagush. Kamina, Saturnian, Flockhart, Grand Coeur, Repair and Baron’s Craig were in about that order, finishing a mile in Imin 54sec. Most of them are engaged at Wanganui on Saturday. Saturnian seems a good prospect in the hack hurdles.
