BRISBANE, May 28.

A rapid build up of labour has allowed Mt. Isa Mines, Ltd., to return to near full production quicker than directors forecast after the recent strike.

Directors said today that by the end of last week the 1963-64 production rate of 2540 tons a day for lead ores had been attained.

A rate of 6000 tons a day was reached for copper ores, compared with the 1963-64 rate of 7600 tons a day and production rates were continuing to increase, they said. The directors said that for the four weeks to May 23, lead ore output was 71,978 tons compared with 66,127 tons for the previous four wee\s.

In the last week 87 more men joined the mines work force, taking it to 3376 about 600 below the level before the recent 34-month shutdown of operations.
