South Island Wool Meeting

The South Island Wool Association will hold its annual conference at Lincoln College next Thursday and Friday. A good part of Thursday will be occupied with individual and inter-team quality number and yield competitions. There will also be a display of wool damaged by weathering and talks on this subject by Professor A. E. Henderson, professor of wool science at the college, and Dr. A. P. Mulcock, senior lecturer in agricultural microbiology. Mr W. J. Hansen, sheep and wool instructor of the Department of Agriculture in Dunedin, will speak about Australian work in selecting for wool improvement. Lectures on Friday will be on out of season shearing by Professor Henderson, growing wool in Chile by Messrs K„ S. McLean and H. J. McLeay, potential changes in tussock grasslands sheep and wool production by Mr J. G. Hughes, management officer of the Tussock Grasslands and Mountain Lands Institute, and the economic implications of increased sheep numbers by Professor B. P. Philpott, professor of agricultural economics and director of the agricultural economics research unit at the college.
