Not Wanted For Fish

(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. May 3. Vessels of the Royal New Zealand Navy so far inspected have all proved to be either too big or too old to warrant recommissioning by the Marine Department as a fisheries research ship. The department has decided against accepting the suggestion that it should take over one of the three remaining Bathurst class minesweepers. These ships, now held in reserve at Auckland, were built in Australia during World War 11, and were given to New Zealand 14 years ago when found surplus to Royal Australian Navy requirements. Inquiries are being continued in New Zealand and Australia.
