Seeded Nations Win Round
(N Z P A -Reutet—Copyright > LONDON. May 3. All eight seeded nations won their matches when the European Zone Davis Cup first round was virtually completed this week-end. Sweden, last year’s zone champions, completed a 4-1 victory over Poland in Stockholm. The Swedes now meet Czechoslovakia, who had a first round bye. after the withdrawal of Monaco from the competition. Results: Austria beat Finland, 4-1 (Helsinki). Italy beat Portugal, 5-0 (Pescara). Spain beat Greece, 5-0 (Barcelona). Sweden beat Poland, 4-1 (Stockholm). *South Africa beat Holland, 4-0 (The Hague). ‘Denmark beat Ireland, 3-1 (Dublin). ‘Chile beat Belgulm 3-1 (Brussels), and Brazil beat Hungary, 3-2 (Budapest). ‘Luxembourg and Turkey are level, 2-2 (Bad Mondorf). ‘Play stopped by weather.
