Work Starts On Minesweeper

AUCKLAND, April 30.
Seamen swarmed over the minesweeper Inverell at Devonport dockyard today, working to bring the ship back into active service.
The cocooning shrouding the deck equipment since the Bathurst-class ship was put into reserve was ripped off, and the hull was scraped in readiness for a re-paint. The dock where the Inverell has been berthed in mothballs is shared by her three sister ships—The Kiama, the Stawell and the Echuca—which were presented to New Zealand by the Australian Government at the same time in 1952.
