TAKE-OVER LAWS
Allegation ‘Not Understood' (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 30. The Under-Secretary of Finance (Mr Muldoon) said today in reply to allegations by the vice-president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce (Mr G. E. Stock) that last year’s overseas take-over regulations were “absurd and stupid,” said:—“This stateis inexplicable and 1 can’t ununderstand what he is getting at.” He said Mr Stock had been a member of the Associated Chambers’ executive when the executive discussed the regulations with him last November. Mr Muldoon said he had invited the executive to comment on the regulations and asked them if they would like to see any changes made. “Mr Stock was there, but he did not comment at that time, and 1 can’t understand why he has decided to say anything now,” he said.
