Messrs F. R. Callaghan (Royal Society), D. Bowie (Forest and Bird Protection Society), R. Syme (Federated Mountain Clubs) and L. W. McCaskill (national park boards) have been appointed members of the National Parks Authority for three years from April 1. The head of the science department at Christ’s College, Mr Z. L. Dalzell, will spend a year teaching at Dulwich College, South London, England. Mr Dalzell is the first member of the college staff to be sponsored to an overseas teaching post under a new grant system provided from a fund given to the college by a prominent old boy. Mr Dalzell was formerly a prominent Rugby player and athlete.
