NEW SKI CLUB
Promotion Of Racing Several well-known Canterbury skiers have joined together to create a new organisation, the Ski Racers’ Club (Canterbury), to promote ski racing as a sport. The club will emphasise training and the administration of racing in Canterbury. It will not supercede any club or administer any duties at present in the hands of the Canterbury Ski Association. Principal objects of the club are:— To promote ski racing as a sport in Canterbury and New Zealand. To provide facilities for the joint training in ski-ing and physical fitness of members of ski clubs throughout Canterbury. To foster and encourage skiing and ski racing and the development of techniques. To bring together the ski racers of New Zealand and, in particular, of Canterbury so opinions and requirements can be jointly voiced to the Ski Council or other bodies.
Foundation officers are:— President, Mr A. Coberger; vice-presidents, Messrs R. Copp, A. Rattray and S. Stewart: men’s club captain, Mr G. Nevell; women’s club captain, Miss K. Guy; honorary secretary, Miss K. Guy; honorary treasurer, Mr P. Rudkin: committee, Messrs R. Womersley, J. Willis, J. Thornton and R. Cullen.
