ÜBER CUP BADMINTON
N.Z. Host To 5 Nations (N.Z. Press Association) N. PLYMOUTH, April 28. New Zealand will be host to at least five international women's badminton teams in May, next year, when the semi-finals, final and challenge round for the Über Cup, symbol of world supremacy in women’s badminton, will be played. The four world zone winners will play off to find the team to meet the holder, the United States, in the challenge round. It is expected the play-off matches will be held in different centres. The zone finals will be completed this year. New Zealand is scheduled to play Indonesia in New Zealand by June 30. in the first round of the Australasian zone. The winner will play Australia. Arrangements have not been completed for the match with Indonesia, the secretary of the New Zealand Badminton Federation, Mr G. F. Vincent, said today. Invited To Compete A Caitex invitation badminton tournament will be beld in Christchurch from June 4 to 6 Those invited to take part are: Men.—J. E. Robson. D. J. Stuart, B. Hall (Auckland'). G. Hinton, N. Thompson (Southland), J. Compton, D. B. Higgins, R. Musker, M. Stossel (Wellington), L. Bristol (Manawatu), I. Clegg (Taranaki), and G. Jefferson (Waikato). Women.—Mesdames H. Robson, V. Gow, A. Butterworth and Misses G. Simpson and A. Glenie (Auckland), Miss B. Stott (Hawke's Bay), Miss M. McFarlane (Waikato), Mrs K. Graham (Christchurch), and Misses G. Tomkins and G. Steele (Wellington). The New Zealand colts’ team, whose tour includes a game against Canterbury at the V. R Skel'lerup Hall on June 3, is: Jefferson. Stossel, Hall, Clegg and Misses Glenie, Stott, McFarlane and Steel.
